Soledad High running back Emanuel Ortega scored five touchdowns to lead the Aztec football team to a 41-0 victory over the host Greenfield Bruins last Friday in Greenfield.

Warrior cheer teams place in Vegas
Three teams representing the Soledad Warrior Youth Football Cheer squads competed at the Jamz Cheer and Dance National Competition in Las Vegas on Jan. 19-22. Soledad placed second in the Midget Division and second in the Jr. Peewee Division. The Peewee cheer squad competed but did not place in the top three.
McEnroe wins gold
Steve McEnroe brought back two gold medals after placing first in the shot put and discus at the World Police and Fire Games last week in Los Angeles.
Rain shortens game week for Mustangs, Aztecs
A shortened week due to rain forced the King City Mustang baseball team to play just one game last week and the Soledad Aztec baseball to play a doubleheader against Trinity Christian.
South County teams on the pitch
Three of the four boys soccer teams from South County were victorious on the soccer pitch and two girls teams won games in non-league play last week. This is the final week of non-league games for the local teams.
4 students to sign national letters of intent
The Palma School Athletic Department will host a ceremonial Letter of Intent Signing on Friday, May 5, at 11:45 a.m. in the Steve Clayton Memorial Gym.
TRACK STARS
The King City boys won 10 events and the girls team won eight events in victories over South County opponents at Thursday’s Daines-Stireman Track and Field Meet at War Memorial Stadium.
