A nice cloud cover protected the lead runners on Saturday during the Salinas Valley Half Marathon that began at the Soledad Mission and finished 13.1 miles later at Pessagno Winery in Gonzales.
In their only dual meet and home meet of the season, the Gonzales High varsity boys cross country team defeated the Soledad Aztecs by a 24-35 score.
With five runners in the top six places the King City varsity boys cross country team easily won their division at Saturday’s Jackie Henderson Memorial Invitational hosted by North Monterey High School in Castroville. King City scored 17 points to easily defeat second place San Benito with 66 points. Soledad High placed fifth in the division.
