South County teams on the pitch
Three of the four boys soccer teams from South County were victorious on the soccer pitch and two girls teams won games in non-league play last week. This is the final week of non-league games for the local teams.
Gonzales wrestlers attend banquet
Members of the Gonzales High School wrestling team and their coaches and families gathered for a banquet and awards night last Wednesday in the school cafeteria.
South County teams run at invitational
The Greenfield High varsity boys cross country team placed third in their division at the Chieftain-Spirit Classic Invitational on Saturday at Toro Regional Park in Salinas. The meet featured over 700 runners competed in three divisions for the boys and girls.
Football players earn honors and awards
The high school football season may have ended almost a month ago but players from South County are still receiving awards and honors. King City and Soledad high schools recently ended the season with awards nights at their respective school sites.
South Valley Stealth team places 3rd
The South Valley Stealth softball team placed third in the 16 and under B Division at the Northern California Qualifying Tournament this past weekend at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Sunnyvale.
Soledad boys in playoffs
The Soledad High boys basketball team began play in the Central Coast Section Division III playoffs last night by hosting the Pajaro Valley High Grizzlies. The Aztecs also hosted the Grizzles last year in the first round and lost 50-46 at home.
Lady Aztec softball ends season
The Soledad High Lady Aztecs completed the season last week with a non-league contest with St. Francis of Watsonville at home and an away game to league foe Santa Catalina.

Members of the Soledad High School track and field team and their coaches and parents gathered at the school multi-purpose room last Tuesday for an awards night.
South County athletes compete at finals
The track and field season ended at the Central Coast Section finals for Pablo Villasenor of Gonzales, Noora Hautamaki of Soledad, and Dylan Oliveros of King City.
Lady Aztecs outplay King City
A 19-4 third quarter run by Soledad High changed the momentum of a close game against King City and earned the visiting Aztecs a 59-42 victory.
