Players prep for South County Jamboree this Friday in Soledad
Weeks of training will be put to the test on Friday as football teams from King City, Greenfield, Gonzales and host Soledad High suit up for the South County Jamboree.
Aztecs end season with wins
Despite finishing with a league mark of 8-6 an overall record of 17-10, the Soledad High Lady Aztecs were unable to secure a Central Coast Section playoff berth.
Teams excel at jamboree
The South County Jamboree proved to be a success for local high school football teams in terms of preparing for upcoming season. With King City, Soledad and Gonzales facing non-league opponents this week and Greenfield starting play next week, the jamboree served as way for teams to access their progress.
Lady Aztecs tame Mustangs
Three players scored in double figures for Soledad High as they knocked King City out of a first place tie in the Mission Trail Athletic League with a 49-34 home victory on Jan. 31.

A balanced offensive attack by Seaside High wore down the host Soledad Aztecs in the season opener for both football teams.
Greenfield teams win Valley Meet
Led by first place finishers Luis Meza and Maria Hernandez the Greenfield boys and girls won the varsity divisions of the Valley Meet on Thursday at King City’s San Lorenzo Park. The cross country meet featured South County teams Greenfield, Soledad and host King City.
South County football teams prep for season
With the high school football season under two months away, local teams are preparing for fall games with weight lifting, overall conditioning, and taking part in seven-on-seven football games.
Soledad wins Tournament of Champions
On Sunday, June 18, the Soledad Minor Giants won the Tournament of Champion Minor title, beating Hollister-American 18-6 in the finals.
Lady Aztecs beaten in fight for first place
In a game for first place in the Mission Trail Athletic League the Soledad Aztecs played well but were unable to come home with a win against the host Robert Louis Stevenson Pirates. Stevenson’s Ambreece Gaskins scored 21 points to lead the Pirates to the 55-48 win.
Soledad reaches semifinals
Victories in the opening round of play and the quarterfinals earned the Soledad Aztec baseball team a spot in today’s Central Coast Section Division II Semifinals against Christopher High School as San Jose’s Municipal Stadium.
