Adrian Lopez allowed three hits in six innings to earn the pitching victory in a 2-0 shutout win over Alisal High by the Soledad Aztec varsity baseball team on April 19 at Hartnell College in Salinas.

The Soledad High Aztec varsity baseball team is 1-0-1 to start the Mission Trail Athletic League as they defeated King City 9-7 at home and played to a 2-2 tie with the Mustangs last Friday on the road.

All five local Little League All-Stars teams were beaten in the semi-finals of the California District 9 section.

A potent running game and a short field was all the Coalinga High Horned Toads needed to defeat the Gonzales Spartans on Friday at Dick Force Stadium. Coalinga improved to 2-0 after the 48-14 win and Gonzales fell to 0-2 in non-league play.

An 11-1 non-league win over the North Monterey County Condors last Friday helped the Soledad Aztec baseball improve to 16 wins and three losses for the season.

With four games left in the regular season the Soledad High Aztec baseball team is taking aim at first place this week with just one game separating them from the first place Pacific Grove Breakers.

The Gonzales High School softball program ended the season with an awards night and banquet last Thursday at the school cafeteria.
