IMUA Elite 16 Jason, representing local-based elite travel volleyball club IMUA Volleyball Club, is headed to the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships — formerly known as the USA Junior Olympics — this summer.
King City frosh-soph win invitational title
With wins in four events and multiple points in many events the King City High frosh-soph boys track team won their division at the King City Lions’ and Young Farmers’ 74th Invitational Track Meet. Esteban Deniz led the Broncos with wins in the 1600 and 3200.
Orange is the new black
An excited group of runners and walkers took to the streets of Gonzales for the annual Gonzales Orange and Black 5K Race on the Fourth of July.
Best of the class
Athletes from Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield and King City were enshrined into the Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017 on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Hartnell College.

The competition was tough for local high school cross country runners at the 23rd Annual North Monterey County Earlybird Invitational Cross Country Meet at Toro Park on Saturday.

Soledad High had a good week with wins over Watsonville and Stevenson. The Lady Aztecs beat Watsonville 25-23, 25-17, 13-25 and 25-16, and beat the Pirates 25-15, 25-18 and 25-10. Soledad hosted Pajaro Valley on Monday and will host the North Monterey Condors tonight.
Cross Country | New Center Meets begin
Cross country dual meets have been eliminated this season as the newly formed Pacific Coast Athletic League has opted to run Center Meets with the new divisions competed in various venues.
Athletes place at Kearney Meet
Soledad High varsity thrower Daniel Contawe won the discus and placed second in the shot put at Saturday’s Bill Kearney Track and Field Invitational at Hartnell College in Salinas. Contawe had a winning mark of 148-6 in the discus and finished with a mark
