One of the most successful baseball seasons ever came to end on Saturday for the Soledad Aztec team as they completed the season with a second place finish in the Central Coast Section Division II Championship.

The regular season ends this week for local high school volleyball teams as Mission Trail Athletic League games were played on Monday and today. King City has two games remaining and will be seeded on Saturday in the Central Coast Section Division IV Playoffs.

Three players had at least two hits in the Greenfield Lady Bruins softball teams 7-6 victory over host Gonzales High on Tuesday, April 4.

The Fairview Middle School Wrestling team from Gonzales placed sixth out of 14 teams at Saturday’s David Raptis Wrestling Invitational that was hosted by Washington Middle School.

Soledad High had a good week with wins over Watsonville and Stevenson. The Lady Aztecs beat Watsonville 25-23, 25-17, 13-25 and 25-16, and beat the Pirates 25-15, 25-18 and 25-10. Soledad hosted Pajaro Valley on Monday and will host the North Monterey Condors tonight.

San Ardo Boxing Club member Kevin Perez was the headliner at the Battle of the Coast Boxing Show that took place in the Kennedy Fitness Club on Saturday, June 10.

The Soledad Aztec softball team fell to 3-6 in the Mission Trail Athletic League as they lost for the third straight time to league foes.

Alize Duarte pitched five strong innings and received relief help from Monique Rodriguez and Elena Meza as the Soledad Lady Aztec varsity softball defeated visiting Robert Louis Stevenson 10-2 last Thursday afternoon.

The defending Central Coast Section Division III Soledad High Aztec football came through in crunch time to defeat the visiting Carmel High Padres 23-21 in the league opener.

The football season begins Friday for South County high schools at the South County Jamboree at War Memorial Stadium. The jamboree will kick off at 5 pm with a JV jamboree followed afterwards by the varsity jamboree.
