Soledad boys win close game with Hawks
Isaac Lopez and Billy Hollman scored 21 and 22 points each to lead the Soledad Aztec basketball to a 70-64 win against the Oakwood High School Hawks last Tuesday in Morgan Hill.
Lady Aztecs in 1st-place tie
Wins over the Gonzales Spartans and Santa Catalina Cougars moved the Soledad Lady Aztecs to a first place tie with co-Mission Trail Athletic League leaders King City and Robert Louis Stevenson at 6-1. Soledad is now in double figures in wins, with a 10-6 overall mark.
Warrior cheer teams place in Vegas
Three teams representing the Soledad Warrior Youth Football Cheer squads competed at the Jamz Cheer and Dance National Competition in Las Vegas on Jan. 19-22. Soledad placed second in the Midget Division and second in the Jr. Peewee Division. The Peewee cheer squad competed but did not place in the top three.

In a battle for first place in the Mission Trail Athletic League, the Greenfield Lady Bruin soccer gained half a game on front running Pacific Collegiate as the teams finished in a 1-1 tie in last Thursday’s game in Greenfield.
Lady Aztecs beaten in fight for first place
In a game for first place in the Mission Trail Athletic League the Soledad Aztecs played well but were unable to come home with a win against the host Robert Louis Stevenson Pirates. Stevenson’s Ambreece Gaskins scored 21 points to lead the Pirates to the 55-48 win.
Soledad wins 49-48 thriller over Breakers
Soledad senior guard Beto Trujillo hit a game-winning free-throw to send the Pacific Grove Breakers to their first Mission Trail Athletic League loss of the season.
Aztec boys beat KC, lose to Padres
Billy Hollman scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Soledad High Aztec boys basketball team to a 71-53 win over the King City Mustangs on Jan. 9 in King City. Beto Tinajero joined Hollman in double figures for Soledad, finishing with 14 points.

South County football players took the field for one last time high school players last Friday at the 33rd Annual All-Star High School Football Game at Rabobank Football Stadium in Salinas. Six players from Soledad, two players from Greenfield, two from King City, and one from Gonzales High participated in the game.
Lady Aztecs outplay King City
A 19-4 third quarter run by Soledad High changed the momentum of a close game against King City and earned the visiting Aztecs a 59-42 victory.
