South County students give thanks
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on everything we are thankful for, such as family and friends. In the spirit of the holiday, South County Newspapers asked local students from King City, Greenfield, Soledad and Gonzales what they are thankful for this year.
Longtime South County doctor awarded France’s highest medal
In a ceremony Feb. 12 at the French Consulate in San Francisco, Dr. Duane Hyde — a longtime resident and family doctor of King City — was recognized for his service in World War II with the Legion of Honor medal, France’s highest order of merit for military and civil awards.
Soledad ranks among safest cities
The City of Soledad was once again listed among the top 50 safest cities in California, according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security’s recently released “The Safest Cities in California 2019” report.
Salinas River restoration effort receives $3M grant
A $2.9 million grant has been awarded to the Resource Conservation District of Monterey County to help eradicate 215 acres of an invasive plant that has infested more than 1,500 acres of the Salinas River.
