Mission Fiesta brings community together
                    Mission Soledad celebrated its 58th annual Mission Fiesta on Oct. 7, bringing Soledad and Mission residents together to eat chicken, enjoy some sun, listen to music and watch the Grape Stomp.

            City installs new stop signs at pedestrian-heavy intersections
                    A new stop sign has been installed at the intersection of West and Anderson, slowing down traffic for pedestrians to use the crosswalk to access Soledad High School or Rose Ferrero Elementary.                
                
            Trashion Show to benefit seniors
                    The fun and fabulous Trashion Show returns to King City for the third year. This year’s event promises to be even more exciting with a new theme, a new fashion presenter and over 22 unique one-of-a-kind dresses made from recycled and repurposed everyday trash.                
                
            Remembering their sacrifice
                    The Soledad community and veterans gathered at the Soledad Cemetery on May 28 to honor those who have lost their lives to give the rest of Americans their freedom.                
                
            Caballero named 2017 Legislator of the Year
                    Assemblymember Anna Caballero was named the 2017 Legislator of the Year by the California Special District Association (CSDA) on March 28.                
                
            South County students, parents attend Gang Prevention Summit
                    More than 200 residents from Monterey County participated in the annual Gang Prevention Summit last Saturday. Among those in attendance were parents, teenagers and middle school students from the South County area.                
                
            Rotary welcomes new president
                    Rotarians celebrated outgoing Rotary President Lorena Gonzales and Incoming President Erica Padilla-Chavez on June 21 at A Taste of Pinnacles.                
                
            Free veggies distributed during ‘Salad Day’
                    Over 200 free fruit and vegetable samples were distributed on May 21 to celebrate the Fifth Annual National Salad Month. The samples were donated by local agricultural businesses in the area.                 
                
            Sharks vs. Stingrays
                    Soledad Sharks and the Gonzales Stingrays faced off in the waters of the Gonzales pool on July 15 for the first swim meet of the summer.
