Pinnacles closed as shutdown continues
Pinnacles National Park, east of Soledad, is now closed to all visitors without confirmed campground reservations, officials announced last week.
New officers sworn in
Soledad Police Department welcomed two new officers, Jesus Contreras and Marco Lugo, who were sworn in Jan. 26.
Free veggies distributed during ‘Salad Day’

Heritage hog sells for $119K
This year’s Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Animal, a 255-pound hog raised by Alexandria Burgess of Hilltown 4-H Club, was sold for $470 per pound, bringing in roughly $119,850 for the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation during last Saturday’s Junior Livestock Auction at the fairgrounds in King City.
