A teenager was arrested last Wednesday at a relative’s home in Soledad for the murder of 43-year-old Jess Gonzales, who was shot and killed March 23 near North Main and Massa streets in Salinas.

A former Soledad High School teacher was sentenced this week to 280 days in county jail and three years of probation for having unlawful sexual intercourse with an underage student.

Two inmates were discovered dead Saturday, April 22, in two separate incidents at Salinas Valley State Prison, officials said.

A 28-year-old man from El Centro, Calif., has died after an agricultural accident June 11 on Camphora and Gloria roads at 12:20 a.m.

A 50-year-old male was shot several times in the 1600 block of Vosti Avenue on Sept. 6, according to Soledad Police.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for last year’s slaying of a local teenager who was found dead from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk near Oak Avenue Elementary School in Greenfield.
