Homelessness increases in South County, report shows
The number of homeless individuals living in Monterey County decreased during a two-year period, according to a new count released Aug. 22; however, that number increased in the four South County cities.

Foods Co to no longer accept VISA credit cards
Foods Co Supermarkets recently announced that its 21 stores and five fuel centers in Central and Northern California, including stores in Soledad and Salinas, will no longer accept VISA credit cards as a form of payment, effective Aug. 14.

Youth learn about gang violence at annual summit in Salinas
The annual Gang Prevention Summit on Jan. 26 featured many speakers from law enforcement and from the Boys and Girls Club. This year there was also a special speaker, Juan “Johnny” Gomez, who was present when two of his relatives were victims of gang violence.

GRADUATION JUBILATION: Aztecs Class of 2019 graduates
Purple gowns and caps and plenty of smiles marked the end of a four-year journey for the Soledad High School Class of 2019, which celebrated its graduation Saturday morning at Gene Martin Stadium, where about 373 seniors walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.
Court services expand in South County
