King City man sentenced to prison for burglary

SUBMITTED ARTICLE

KING CITY — King City resident Marcos Tinajero, 33, was sentenced to four years in prison last Friday for committing a residential burglary.

On April 15, 2016, a Soledad resident reported that his home had been burglarized while he was at work. The next day, the victim saw Tinajero wearing the victim’s stolen jacket and hat. Tinajero fled when confronted.

Officers found Tinajero that same day, conducted a search based on his parole status, and found multiple stolen items belonging to the first victim. Police also found a cell phone, uploaded the device’s SIM card, and found pictures of a vehicle. Officers contacted the registered owner and learned that his cell phone, amongst other items, had been stolen in a separate recent residential burglary.

Monterey County Superior Court Judge Robert A. Burlison sentenced Tinajero to four years in state prison. Tinajero’s sentence was enhanced due to a prior strike conviction for a 2011 residential burglary.

The case was investigated by Soledad Police Officer Kevin McArthur.
