SOUTH COUNTY — Once again living up to its name, the 2019 South County Trashion Show brought more than 20 of the “trashiest” designs straight out of the Old West and onto the runway.

More than 300 guests attended the western-themed show Feb. 21 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City, where local designers and models presented their unique dresses and clothes made from recycled and repurposed materials.

Monterey County Sheriff Steve Bernal was master of ceremony and sang a few country songs during the fourth annual event. He was joined on stage by Audra Vaccarezza, who returned as this year’s fashion presenter.

The luncheon fundraiser is a benefit for Alliance on Aging, a local nonprofit that provides free services to seniors in Monterey County.

“A special thank you to our fabulous committee, the fairgrounds staff, the amazing designers, models, hairdressers, makeup artists and our very capable volunteer servers,” said Alliance on Aging Executive Director Teresa Sullivan. “Out thanks to Sheriff Bernal, Audra Vaccarezza, the ‘bandits’ and the saloon girls for gracing our stage and entertaining you all. Thank you for your generosity and support and to our sponsors who get asked often and give much.”
