Soledad High quarterback Robbie SantaAna and King City’s Clay Barbree were selected as major award winners in the Mission Trail Athletic League’s All-League football team.

The Greenfield Lady Bruins won their third league game last week, defeating the King City Lady Mustangs 10-9 last Tuesday in Greenfield.

With wins in four events and multiple points in many events the King City High frosh-soph boys track team won their division at the King City Lions’ and Young Farmers’ 74th Invitational Track Meet. Esteban Deniz led the Broncos with wins in the 1600 and 3200.

Track and field teams from Gonzales, Greenfield, and Soledad High Schools participated in the Alisal Track and Field Invitational on Saturday at Alisal High School in Salinas.

Members of the Gonzales High School wrestling team and their coaches and families gathered for a banquet and awards night last Wednesday in the school cafeteria.

A win tonight at Gonzales could assure the Soledad Lady Aztecs a share of the Mission Trail Athletic League Championship, while a victory over Santa Catalina at home on Friday would mean an undisputed title for Soledad.

In a preview of the upcoming Mission Trail Athletic League Cross Country Championships, the Greenfield boys teams won the varsity boys, JV boys and frosh boys divisions.

The Fourth Annual “Orange and Black” 5K will take place on Tuesday, July 4, at Central Park in Gonzales.

Cross country runners from all four South County high schools traveled to Toro Regional Park in Salinas to run in the Monterey Bay Invitational.

Track and field teams from Gonzales and Soledad competed in a cluster meet at Pacific Grove and the Greenfield and King City teams completed in a cluster meet at Carmel on March 29.
