Aztecs host Scotts Valley in playoffs

The defending Central Coast Section Division IV champion Soledad Aztecs are moving down to Division V this season and will be playing Mission Trail Athletic League member Scotts Valley at home on Friday night.

Aztecs win undisputed title

Needing a victory to win their first outright Mission Trail Athletic League title the Soledad Aztecs amassed 390 yards of offense and shut out the Robert Louis Stevenson Pirates 35-0.

RUNNING CHAMPS

For the third straight year the Greenfield boys are cross country champions of the Mission Trail Athletic League. The Bruins had five runners earn All-MTAL medals after out running the rest of the field. Greenfield finished first, followed by Pacific Grove and King City.

Teams complete dual meets

The defending Mission Trail Athletic League and CCS Division IV champion Greenfield Bruins boys team prepared for tomorrow’s MTAL finals with a dual meet win over King City on Thursday at Oak Park.

The key to winning any team game is to get your best athletes out. That was the case on Friday night in Soledad as the host Aztecs outplayed a larger Scotts Valley team with combination of speed and athleticism and won its Mission Trail Athletic League contest, 19-3.

Students from Carrillo’s Karate Do Studios in King City and Greenfield came home with medals after competing on Saturday at the 29th Annual Fall Karate Championships and Demonstration at Homestead High School in Cupertino.

South County teams complete league season

The regular season ends this week for local high school volleyball teams as Mission Trail Athletic League games were played on Monday and today. King City has two games remaining and will be seeded on Saturday in the Central Coast Section Division IV Playoffs.

Runners compete in MTAL Center Meet

In a preview of the upcoming Mission Trail Athletic League Cross Country Championships, the Greenfield boys teams won the varsity boys, JV boys and frosh boys divisions.
