Soledad girls make league's 2nd team

SOLEDAD — Three members of the Soledad High School softball team were chosen to the Mission Trail Athletic League Softball second team. The Lady Aztec players were Skylah Fregoso, Evelina Ramirez and Celeste Parra.

MTAL champion Santa Catalina dominated the league awards with Katie Fraley, the Player of the Year; Emma James, the Pitcher of the Year; and head coach Alex Pingree the Coach of the Year. Joining Fraley and James to the league first-team were Cougar players Abby Gunter, Jessica Clements, Emily Radner and Grace Atkins. Voted as the Elgie Bellezio Sportsmanship Award winners were Kristin Cardinalli of Carmel and Kayleekai Aten of Marina.

First-team All-MTAL players included: Danielle Pasquariello, Vada Courtney, Parker Llantero, Lauren Coppla of Pacific Grove; Jocelyne Bruno Rachael Carroll, Anna Buzan of Carmel; Vivian Valencia of Marina; and Ellie Yamashita and Nisha Singh of Robert Louis Stevenson.

Joining the Soledad girls on the second-team All-MTAL squad were: Jaclyn Hyles, Dillan Chiewpanich, Kristen Cardinalli, Jessica Pavloff of Carmel; Kailey Clymo, Stephanie Dalhamer of Stevenson; Rachel Consiglio, Diana Hughes of Pacific Grove; Emily Hayes, Emma Ubertino of Santa Catalina; and Kayleekai Aten of Marina.
