SOLEDAD — The Salvation Army in Soledad collected toys and food to distribute to families throughout South County over the past few weeks.
The Salvation Army staff plans to distribute the toys between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24. Several local businesses got involved to help out those in need.
Over 230 applications were taken to serve 1,000 people and over 500 youth up to age 14.
The Salvation Army provides food for three days following their visit and were aided by Hahn Winery, Estancia, King City Glass, Soledad Tire, CET, Dialysis in Soledad, AGI supplies, Dr. Lee and more.
Estancia Winery and Bay Properties both adopted families where they provide food and gifts for not only the children but the parents as well.
The toys and food donated will serve families from Chualar to Parkfield.
The Salvation Army also runs the food pantry for South County and are always accepting donations.
