SOLEDAD — Salinas Valley State Prison officials are investigating the death of an inmate as a homicide.
At around 11:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, staff responded to a disturbance inside a Facility B housing unit cell. Staff observed inmate Jose Alcantar-Ortega, 19, lying on the floor.
