Marjorie (Cy) Alcantara Belli, formally of Soledad, passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family on November 12, 2018, at the age of 94.
Born in Saginaw, Michigan to Thomas and Janet Tonks, Marge married her first husband, Alexander Alcantara II, in 1945. After living in Alaska and Connecticut, Marge and Alex settled in Soledad, California, where she worked as an elementary teacher for the Soledad Unified School District for over 25 years.
Marge and Alex had four children, Alexander III (Michele), Frederick (Alana), Janet (David) Raptis and Nancy Louris.Marge loved to travel, and was active in Eastern Star, the Soledad Garden Club and numerous Bridge and Pedro card clubs. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, her first husband, Alex, and second husband, Ernest Belli. She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Sunrise Villa Terrace Club, who lovingly cared for Marge for seven years, and the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Monterey County and Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
