Students honor local veterans
On Monday, Nov. 6, Fairview Middle School celebrated local veterans at its annual Veterans Assembly, a tradition that originated 30 years ago at Gonzales High School.

King City resident Charles DeSchepper was recently named Veteran of the Year for 2017 by the Monterey County Military and Veterans Affairs Office Advisory Commission, which honored him last Saturday at the annual ceremonial dinner in Monterey.

Monterey County Pops returns for free veterans concert
Monterey County Pops! orchestra’s “Salute to Veterans” concerts, performed in conjunction with the Veterans Day weekend, have been so well-received by hundreds of South County residents for the past four years that the Pops are bringing it back for another free concert at the King City High School Auditorium.
