Fire district obtains traffic safety grant
The South Monterey County Fire Protection District (SOMOCO) and the City of Soledad Fire Department partnered for a regional traffic safety grant and were awarded $70,000 for the purchase of electric powered extrication equipment with funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Trained to help
Hot sausages were flying off the grill Saturday in Soledad at Bill Ramus Park for the sausage takeout barbecue to benefit the Soledad Police Department’s K-9 dogs, Huro and Leco. Local residents attended the event for a great lunch and to meet the pair of working dogs that are helping to keep Soledad a safer community.
Tractor trailer crash slows down 101
A tractor trailer full of broccoli took out 100 feet of guard railing and caused a single vehicle accident at about 6:30 p.m. last Friday on the Highway 101 northbound overpass.
Country Christmas
Last Saturday the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum, better known as MCARLM, held its 10th Annual Holiday Open House, opening its doors for the public to explore the museum and the many exhibits while enjoying homemade soups and eating holiday cookies and treats.
