Tax prep volunteers needed
Alliance on Aging is looking for a few South County residents to volunteer for the 2018 Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program, which offers no-cost tax preparation services for seniors in Monterey County.

Pinnacles National Park receives field trip grant from National Park Foundation
Pinnacles National Park will receive a field trip grant for the 2018-19 school year from the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. This $5,200 grant will be used to help underserved schools with the cost of transportation to Pinnacles National Park.

The Young Ladies Institute served approximately 400 luncheons during its annual salad bar lunch Oct. 25 at the South County YMCA.
Family fun at YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day Event
The time has come again for the YMCA Healthy Kids Day Event. This year the event will be on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and as usual it is free to everyone in South County and open to all ages.
Soledad pool opens
Soledad-Mission Recreation District is open for spring and started its pool spring schedule on Feb. 5.
Local Memorial Day services planned for Monday
Memorial Day services are planned for Monday morning around South County to honor and remember those who have died while serving in the U.S. military.

Soledad High School NJROTC earned a Bravo Zulu ribbon during the annual inspection by Area Manager Capt. Daniel Wenceslao on Jan. 17.
