Heritage hog sells for $119K
This year’s Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Animal, a 255-pound hog raised by Alexandria Burgess of Hilltown 4-H Club, was sold for $470 per pound, bringing in roughly $119,850 for the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation during last Saturday’s Junior Livestock Auction at the fairgrounds in King City.
New housing causes concerns
With housing in high demand, Soledad City Council met for a special meeting Oct. 23 to discuss adding an additional 1,318 single-family residential lots to the San Vicente West Specific Plan.
Up in smoke
Smoke was seen from miles away as Cal Fire conducted a prescribed burn on private property in the Gabilan Range near Soledad on Nov. 7.

Council approves more funding for Event Center plans
The City of Soledad is moving forward with the Soledad Event Center project by approving an additional $8,765 for contract planning services with EMC Planning Group Inc.
