SOLEDAD — Tow trucks, CHP vehicles, ambulances and more drove down Front Street in Soledad on Aug. 23 to celebrate the Spirit Ride’s “Slow Down, Move Over” event.

“Slow Down, Move Over” is a ride that honors fallen first responders and tow truck operators who have been killed while on the job. In California, the event is to bring awareness to a law regarding drivers when they see tow trucks and emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the side of the road. The law states to either slow down or move away from the vehicles.

This year Pete’s Towing in Soledad participated in the second annual event for the first time.

“The main reason why this spirit ride is happening is to bring more awareness to the public,” said Mayra Saldana, event coordinator.

Members of Pete’s Towing, Spirit Ride Van, CHP and more met at the Soledad Bar and Grill before the journey continued to its next destination.
