SOLEDAD — The first Soledad Salvation Army Craft Fair kicked off July 1 with many local artists displaying and selling their creations, which included items made by crocheting and quilting.
Two arts-and-crafts exhibitors were Mary Vela and Manuela Jimenez, who both crochet.
“People give me pictures and I crochet them,” said Vela, who crochets beanies, blankets and even stuffed animals.
Vela displayed a wide array of christening outfits for babies and even dolls who wore crocheted outfits.
The Salvation Army Craft Fair also included a swiss sausage barbecue that was said to have done very well and was well supported by the community.
The Soledad Salvation Army is at 179 Main St., and the Craft Fair was held at 274 Kidder St. in the Liberty Chapel parking lot.
