Third-grade students hold up their new dictionaries, provided by the Soledad Rotary.
SOLEDAD — Soledad Rotarians began their dictionary deliveries Sept. 17 to third-grade students in the Soledad Unified School District. Three schools received dictionaries on Monday starting with Rose Ferrero, Frank Ledesma and ending with Jack Franscioni School.
Dictionaries have been one of Rotary’s main projects, and the tradition continued this school year. Soledad Rotarians Erica Padilla Chavez, Pauline Tomasini and Superintendent Tim Vanoli passed out dictionaries to students at Frank Ledesma Elementary.
Within the dictionary contents are names and pictures of the solar system, presidents, the longest word in the English language (Hint: It’s a protein) and more.
Each student received their own dictionary so they wouldn’t have to share with other students.
In the coming weeks, Rotarians will visit the remaining Soledad school sites and Soledad Mission School District to deliver more dictionaries.
