SOUTH COUNTY — A shortened week due to rain forced the King City Mustang baseball team to play just one game last week and the Soledad Aztec baseball to play a doubleheader against Trinity Christian.
King City improved to 3-1-1 in the Mission Trail Athletic League as they beat Pacific Grove on the road on Friday by a 2-0 score.
Brian Lopez pitched the shutout for the Mustangs and received relief help from Clay Barbree in the seventh inning. Cedric Perez hit a double and Lopez helped his own cause with two hits.
Soledad swept a double header from the Trinity Christian Warriors, winning by 14-2 and 12-4 scores. In the first game Chris Villarreal was 2 x 5 at the plate with an RBI and Anthony Ramirez went 2 x 4, score two runs and was credited with two RBI’s.
Ben Pajas led Soledad with a 4 x 4 performance, scoring three runs and and finishing while stroking a double. Robbie Santa Ana, Jakob Melendrez, and Joel Barroso hit doubles.
The Aztecs are now 4-1-1 in the MTAL and 5-2-1 overall.
