SOLEDAD — Eric Olsen fondly remembers teaching at Main Street Middle School 14 years ago. Since that time, he has worked as a special education teacher, a special education principal and as a high school assistant principal.

Olsen, who was most recently employed at Watsonville High School and has eight years of experience working in school administration, was recently hired by Soledad Unified School District as Main Street Middle School’s new principal.

Olsen graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in psychology and later earned his teaching credential from CSU Monterey Bay with an emphasis in special education. He earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from San Jose State in 2009.

Olsen supports a love of learning, a persevering attitude and a strong sense of well-being and achievement for the Main Street Middle School community. He is excited to lead a school community that works to engage, inspire and prepare students for a better future.

Olsen has been married to his wife, Minda, for over 15 years. He has a 12-year-old daughter who will be attending middle school and a 9-year-old son, entering fourth grade this fall. His main passions outside of family and education are baseball, exercise and food.

He was a Washington State Baseball Champion in high school and played second and third base for a NCAA Division I baseball team. He currently enjoys playing in a 30-and-over baseball league and coaching his son’s little league team.
