SOLEDAD — Soledad Police Department has a new police officer, Jose Magana, who was sworn in June 29.
Magana is originally from Porterville, Calif., where he was born and raised. He graduated from Granite Hills High School and took a job in the retail industry.
Magana decided to become a police officer after working for several years in retail. He studied administration of justice at Porterville Community College in Porterville.
This past October, Magana graduated from the Police Academy at the College of the Sequoias and credits his success to the unending support of his wife Eliza and their children, Yulieana, Jocelyn and Julian.
