The Walker Drive and Metz Road intersection now has only one lane to turn left onto Walker coming from Metz going toward Main Street.

SOLEDAD — After two months of construction, the Metz Road Calming Project is complete after construction wrapped up last week with striping of the street.

The updated Metz Road in front of Gabilan Elementary School, the Soledad Unified School District and San Vicente Elementary School have three center divides in front of their locations, giving space for students to cross the street and have drivers see them better.

The Metz Road Calming Project took two months to complete, beginning June 8 and ending contract work from Granite Construction on Aug. 10, just two days before school was set to resume.

According to Project Manager Joel Jimenez, a majority of the work in regard to paving for the project took place July 30 and 31.

“I drove out there today and it looked really nice,” Jimenez said.
