Chamber looking for citizen, business nominations

SOLEDAD — It’s that time of year to award the Soledad Chamber’s Citizen of the Year, and it needs help choosing who that should be.

Nominations are also being sought for Business of the Year, the Friend of the Community and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award.

The Soledad Chamber is looking for input from the community and want suggestions for deserving awardees — people, organizations and businesses that have made a difference during the past year — a business that is growing, hiring and giving back or a community leader that really made things happens this year.

Last year’s Citizen of the Year was Soledad High School Aztec Football Coach Frankie Berlanga.

The 2015 Business of the Year was Bay Property Management, owned by Gail Valdez.

The Friend of the Community was awarded to Soledad Rotary.

The awardees also included the late Richard Smith and Smith Family Wines, which received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nomination forms can be found at various locations around town, and also online at the Soledad Chamber website SoledadChamber.com.

Go to Events on the menu bar, and then click on Awards Gala under Events. There, users will find the Awards Gala page with links to each of the nomination forms.

The 2017 Awards Gala is set for Friday, April 28.
