The Good Samaritan, Colin Blevin, contacted law enforcement, and after the baby was medically cleared, he was reunited with his parents later in the morning.
Salinas’ father had gone out to his vehicle and started it to let the engine warm up. He placed his son in the car seat and went back into the residence to retrieve some property. When he returned about a minute later, the vehicle and the 1-year-old were gone. The victim immediately reported the theft and kidnapping to the Soledad Police Department.
At 12:30 p.m., Soledad Police was notified via dispatch that the Salinas Police Department possibly had the suspect and stolen vehicle stopped on a traffic stop in Salinas. The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Raymond Randy Gutierrez, who was detained.
Soledad Police officers responded to the Salinas Police Department, where they interviewed the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
“Our thanks to all the agencies involved in the successful recovery of the missing child,” Soledad Police said in a news release.
