SOLEDAD — Three players had three hits apiece as the Soledad Aztec baseball team hammered the visiting North Salinas Viking 16-6 on Thursday afternoon in Soledad.
Andru Holguin earned the pitching win to improve to 4-0 for the season. The win helped the Aztecs improve to 8-4-1 overall.
Joseph Calderon had three hits and was credited with four runs batted in to lead the Aztecs 11 hit attack. Robbie Santa Ana added three hits and an RBI and Ben Pajas contributed with three hits and an RBI. Aaron Rodriguez finished the game with two base hits.
Soledad played April 4 at Hartnell College against the Alisal Trojans and lost by a 2-1 score. The Aztecs returned to Mission Trail Athletic League play yesterday when they played against the league-leading Carmel High Padres.
Soledad is 6-1-1 in the MTAL and the Padres are 7-1 with a loss to the Robert Louis Stevenson Pirates. In a Friday the 13th game, the Aztecs will host Carmel.
