SOLEDAD — Disney-themed parade floats featuring “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters Inc.” and more took over Soledad High School last week as students and staff celebrated Homecoming.
Beginning Oct. 2, students dressed up to match different themes throughout the week that led up to Thursday night, Oct. 4, when they and their families gathered for the rally. The gym was decorated with each classes’ theme for the week, which was Disney movies.
The freshmen chose “Coco,” sophomores selected “Up,” juniors picked “Monsters Inc.” and the seniors chose “Toy Story.”
During the rally, the NJROTC male and female teams performed drills and the presentation of colors, with the National Anthem sung by Alicia Massa. The Homecoming Court was also introduced and made their walk down the purple carpet.
The seniors performed a skit inspired by the Disney movies that each class had selected, with a song from “Coco,” a re-enactment of “Up,” “The Incredibles” fighting off villains, and “Toy Story” characters Woody meeting Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep and Jessie.
Friday saw the Homecoming Parade down Main Street with the seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen students unveiling their parade floats. The football players, cross country team, Club Azteca and the cheerleaders also participated in the parade, tossing candy to parade goers.
All leading up to the Homecoming game on Friday evening against North Salinas High School.
