SOLEDAD — Kettle corn, tacos, cupcakes, peanuts, fresh fruit and vegetables took center stage April 26 as the Farmer’s Market returned to the streets of Soledad.

The market is every Thursday, from now through Oct. 11, on Soledad Street, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Soledad Farmer’s Market is hosted by the Soledad Historical Society, which also opens its museum during the market hours.

Ester Gonzales-Chavez, owner of Dulces Pensamientos or Creative Cake Designs, sells cupcakes, cookies and cakes at the market. Gonzales-Chavez has a home license in Soledad and focuses on custom baked goods.

“Everything is made from scratch,” Gonzales-Chavez said.

This upcoming July will mark her third year as a vendor at the Farmer’s Market. Gonzales-Chavez started the business when she was pregnant with her son, and she took classes at Michael’s on baking.

“I wanted to expand and do something else besides being a stay-at-home mom,” she said.
