SOLEDAD — Soledad American Legion Post 32 recently made a $2,000 donation to the Salinas Veterans Day Parade.
The Salinas Veterans Day Parade has been occurring for seven years with about 10,000 spectators lining the streets of Old Town Salinas on Veterans Day.
“We are 100 percent nonprofit and depend on donations and our own fundraisers,” said Tony Virrueta, committee chairman of the Veterans Day Parade. “The Soledad American Legion Post 32 has supported us every year. They, along with The Californian and KION, are our biggest sponsors.”
Every year the Soledad American Legion Post 32 holds a barbecue fundraiser and donates the proceeds toward the parade that they participate in.
The Post has approximately 60 members but are active in the community by providing scholarships, fundraisers, ceremonies and more to show their dedication and patriotism.
This year’s Veterans Day Parade will take place on Nov. 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Downtown Old Town Salinas.
