SOLEDAD — The Fourth of July Committee hosted its first dinner fundraiser at California Gourmet Pizza on June 15 to raise money for the holiday’s festivities at the Little League Park.
“Unfortunately, we are not able to have the fireworks display due to lack of funds, but we are going to have wonderful activities,” said committee member Pauline Tomasini. “Two live bands, a DJ, several clowns, bounce houses, kids and adult games.”
On July 4, the kids and adult games will include tug-a-war and more. The fundraiser supports the activities and could even become an annual event.
“It seems like the public is supportive of something like this, so we are very pleased,” Tomasini said.
The City of Soledad began the fireworks show for the city’s 50th anniversary, and according to Tomasini, Soledad has had fireworks ever since for over 20 years. The fireworks show has only been canceled twice before due to lack of funds.
