City of Soledad celebrates 100 years with gala

Business and community awards presented at centennial celebration

SOLEDAD — City of Soledad celebrated its 100th anniversary during the Centennial Gala last Saturday.

Hosted inside the Soledad Community Center, the semi-formal affair included dinner and an awards ceremony, along with live music and entertainment. Tickets for the Dec. 11 celebration sold out in advance, with more than 240 guests in attendance.

“Thank you to all of our Soledad Centennial Gala attendees for your support and participation in celebrating our 100 years,” the City of Soledad posted on social media prior to the evening event. “Let’s have fun tonight and look forward to many more good years to come.”

Longtime resident Pauline Tomasini was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award during Saturday’s gala.

Other award winners were Maria and Frank Corralejo of F&M Auto Repair, who received a pair of accolades as the Soledad Community Leader of the Year and Business of the Year.

Martha Zepeda Zarate was honored with the Civic Service Award, and Soledad High School senior Martin De Anda Jr. received the Soledad Star Scholar Athlete Award at the ceremony.

The gala’s entertainment lineup included magician Brian Cassady, who dazzled guests with his magic show, and live music from Mariachi Dueto Trujillo and R&B soul band BTOWN.

Dinner was provided by local restaurant, The Windmill.
